My visit to Ommegang Brewing November 2015 was a great! Besides great mild weather when it's normaly cold and snow is the order for the day, the trip was rather nice. Phil Leinhart the brewery's master brewer was my host as well as my history teacher. During his eight years of working for Ommegang he has picked up a lot of hop farming history about the area where the brewery is now a part of.
Any great business's are always great because of the magnitude of greatness and energy that the people working for it put into the company. Phil is no exception. One of the first things that he made a point of making sure I understood was how much of a team effort makes it into the product that we taste when we enjoy a Ommegang beer. From the guys who work the third shifts or the team that works tirelessly in their state of the art yeast culture lab, a lot of passionate people are responsible for the beverages that bare the lable Ommegang.
Take a few minutes and listen in while Phil and I discuss the brewery's newest beers, their collaberations with a Hollywood brand and their momentum as they build off of their history and continue to be leaders among American breweries in the future.
